Bucket List Photo Challenge: Day 211.

Day 211 of my Bucket List Photo Challenge!

IMG_8854

As you may or may not know, I had the distinct pleasure of living in Hawaii for three years, on the beautiful island of Maui. A question I get quite often is, “don’t you miss it?”

Well, yes and no. Have you ever lived on an island? I can attest that “island fever” is a very real thing. You can only drive so far. Believe it or not, you can only go to the beach so many times. And you are very, very disconnected from the rest of the world… some may even call it “The Real World.”

Maui is a beautiful place to visit… but it takes a special person to live there year-round. Besides, you can find insanely beautiful places all around you, wherever you are. Even in Lake Erie, where this photo was taken.

Let’s call this photo INSANELY and knock that word off the list!

Here is the complete list for the month of July:

Bucket List Photo Challenge: Day 210.

Day 210 of my Bucket List Photo Challenge!

The word today is crackle. And I’m going to use it to describe five photos from a mini-photo-shoot that I did with my friends Terri and Scott during our cabin-camping trip to Put-in-Bay, Ohio.

In the photos, you’ll see that they opened up a gift box, which contained their ultrasound photo and a pair of pink baby shoes…. yep, it’s a girl!

A3

Crackle with delight.

A7

Crackle with creativity.

Crackle with humor.

Crackle with laughter. Oh, if I could only tell you why they were laughing…

A10

Crackle with love. Terri and Scott are going to be great parents.

Let’s call this photo CRACKLE and knock that word off the list!

Bucket List Photo Challenge: Day 209.

Day 209 of my Bucket List Photo Challenge!

IMG_8850

I think most people, when thinking about Put-in-Bay, an island in the western basin of Lake Erie, immediately think of wine, drunks and golf carts.

During this particular summer, though, folks are thinking about history. In fact, everywhere you travel around the island, you will see flags and other signage that screams, “Don’t give up the ship!”

200 years ago, in the Battle of Lake Erie, Oliver Hazard Perry flew this slogan on his battle flag. Rightfully so, the island community is celebrating history in 2013. Take a moment during your visit to the island and visit Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. Not only for the view, but so you can imagine yourself sailing with Commodore Perry on the USS Lawrence.

Let’s call this photo GOLF and knock that word off the list!
