Obama, on a roll, now offending Catholics… over education.

“If towns remain divided—if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden—that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” said President Obama at a speech in Ireland, while traveling for the G-8 Summit.

Of course, whether or not he meant what everyone is construing, this has sparked outrage amongst Catholics all around the world, who see it as a sign that now Obama may be coming for private educational facilities.

I’m not Catholic. But I did attend Catholic private schools through the beginning of 3rd grade, before moving to the local public schools. The level of education offered, in my opinion, in this case, was the same. However, now that I’m all grown up and write children’s books, I’ve visited hundreds of school all across the country— both private and public. The difference is unbelievable.

But change can happen— we can make public schools just as good as private schools. What will it take? It will take politicians that are ready to start doing something instead of yammering on about Catholic schools “encouraging division.”
